La Soufriere and 11 Months

So this week was pretty good. For the most part the work is just going good. I am trying to memorize scriptures this week that will help in teaching.
We helped build Keven's house which was really fun. I want to build my own house one day.
Also no one came to church this week so it was a real bummer so we are trying hard to get people to come out.
Today this morning we hiked up a volcano it is La Soufriere . It was a fun time.  Fun to be hiking once again.

Also carnival is coming up on Friday-Tuesday. So we will be locked in our apartment during those days.. haha so I might not email ya tell Wednesday or later in the week.

So good to hear all is well back home!

Love you guys -

Bequila!

"whagone...  me zblessed fr da week witda no hurt."

That is how I would say 'This week I am very healthy" in St. Vincint talk hah.

Well this week was rough.. missionary wise. we worked our tails off and saw much success during the week. We had three solid investigators tell us they would come to church and none of them showed up. so it was so sad. as a missionary we love seeing these people keep commitments and make right choices, so to see them not come is hard. But I guess it is just part of it all.
Also carnival is coming up. Carnival is basically just a crazy party where the whole island blasts dirty horrible songs, and go out and dance in the streets in there underwear, and do dirty things and drink and smoke weed. Carnival is straight from the devil and it is the worst thing ever. So we are trying to not let the members go to carnival. It is a traditional thing and these Vincy people love carnival. So these up coming weeks we are preparing our members to not go to Carnival :)

Also today for pday we went on a fairy to Bequia.. it is part of the grenadines and is a cool little island off of st. Vincint. we were able to explore the island all day and play with turtles it was super fun. Also we had a cool tour guide who took us in this fun safari car. So today was way irie

Well that's about all for now. love you all so much.

Hats, Sheep and Face Swelling

Hey, Hey, Hey!

So this week was super fun, interesting, and crazy. I am back to full strength and super happy to be serving the lord.
So good to see that everything back home is great. Well Mom just so you know your boy is doing great and is back to smiling and happy. I may still have those chubby cheeks though.

Speaking of chubby cheeks. I woke up on Thursday and my face was swollen again like back in st. Lucia. I was so happy for the medicine you sent me with. it helped the swelling. So the reason for it is because I am allergic to a certain kind of mango. I am not sure which one yet, because I used to eat them in Barbados. But it is so crazy.

So this last week a lot of the mission rules for clothing and standards changed. And how like sisters can wear pants. But the best part is elders can wear hats. So we looked in town last week and found some sweet ones that match the church standards. So we have been rocking them all week.

So since we are so far away from the store and it is hard to carry groceries on the bus, we stick to eating lots of fruit, eggs, breadfruit, and what ever we can find. This week we met a farmer and we bought a sheep from him. We took it back to our house and kept it as a pet tell my face wasn't swollen anymore, then we killed it. I skinned it and we cooked it over the fire. We were also able to give some of the back straps and legs to some members. They were really thankful for that.

Elder Kaufano showed us how to make umo, so we dug a pit, made a big fire, and put rocks on top, then we put breadfruit on and lamb over the top, we then covered it and let it cook for an hour. It was so great.

The new area is awesome. So low key and super out in the boonies. We had like 14 people at church and we meet in just this little house. It is cool to see the faith of some of these members.

Each island is a different zone usually consisting of two districts. So my comp Elder Clement is the district leader. And we are just both Snr. Comps. it is cool we came out together so we work hard and are seeing success. President told me I wont be here long though so I am wondering what will happen next transfer. But funny thing, my comp Elder Clement, is a vegetarian so to see his face when i skinned the lamb was so funny. He is a huge environmentalist too. so he is always picking up trash, buying the go green stuff. haha it is funny but he is a good Elder.

All the others I live with are cool, and obedient so we are able to have fun but work hard and not break any rules as a missionary.

We are seeing success, we have already set 2 baptismal dates for july. and are finding men to teach so the lord is definitely blessing us. My favorite scripture that applies to this week is

Alma 26:12 Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever.

Well i wrote a lot this week but I mostly was excited to tell you all the good news. I love you all and hope you have a blessed week.

enjoy all the pics too...

Off to St. Vincent :)

Yo!  I am sure that the Sister Clawson told ya, but we found out is Dengue! It has been crazy this last week! Between blood tests, sleeping, and saying more good byes. It was excited to leave though. As for my health I am doing a little better every day. I could feel the love and prayers from home so thank you. Thank you so so much! It has been a hard few weeks for me. And laying in bed made me super depressed and so the prayers really helped. So today I feel better then I have in 5 weeks. I weighed myself today and I have lost 27 pounds in the last few weeks. But I got up the energy and so I was able to fly out.

Well I flew into St. Vincent on Friday. The zone leaders picked me up and drove me an hour to my new area. I live in the boonies. It is called Georgetown. It is like farm land and poverty and just at the very bottom of the island. It is so beautiful. There are huge hills because St. vincent is made of a volcano. The people are super funny. They are nice and humble because of the poverty. I live in a way cool house. I live with my comp Elder Clement. He is a really humble obediant missionary. So we will see much success together. Also I live with two other elders. Elder Koafano from tonga, and Elder Walentine from bear lake. He played football and basketball so we get a long great telling each other our stories of the glory days in highschool lol haha. So outside my house, I have 3 coconut trees, my own mango tree and a few banana plants so i am set on food!

View from the appartment

But as for the work it is good. I still get plenty rest through the days but work hard when my energy is there. I am apart of a group of like 20 members. I guess this last sunday there was only 4 members there so that was interesting. But we are going to make it into a branch before I am done with it. Our goal this week is to find a guy who knows how to print or paint well so we can get a sign for the church! it is going to look great!

So the bus drivers here are crazy. The road is seriously straight zig zag all the way to town it looks like this ^^^^^^^^ I have never got so car sick in my life then on Saturday when we came to town for a meeting. It was pouring rain and we got in the van. I didnt know what i was in for, for the next hour and a half. With in five minutes I was super car sick and they managed to fit in 24 people into this small van, they were blasting soka music, and it was crazy. At the time I thought i was in hell but looking back I laugh at it. Mom I know you get super sick too. I am going to take you on this bus ride and we can feel the pain together. haha:)
Well i am glad to be able to talk to you all. It helps cheer up the soul. I am learning a lot about the savior this last week.. I have had a lot of study time. I am excited to get work done this week.
thanks again for all the prayers and for fasting for me.

Love, Elder Dixon
