Learning About Christ

Well this week was probably one of the most challenging weeks of my mission. The week itself went good and we killed it and met some cool people. But let me tell you about Saturday.

So during the week President Herrington went and interviewed Merissa and she was all set for baptism. She was excited. On Saturday morning before the baptism I was ironing my white pants when we got a text from Merissa... "I am not sure, I don't know if i should be baptized"

Well I gave her a call and she expressed to me how she had a feeling to be baptized but also a strong feeling to not be baptized. After a long conversation trying to see where she is coming from the concern came out that she didn't fully have a testimony of the prophet Joseph Smith. She decided to cancel her baptism..

I was in shock. Probably one of the most disappointing experiences on my mission. I decided to go and pray because I was at a lost. I prayed for over an hour just really trying to talk to God on what I can do to help her. Not gonna lie that was probably the most sincere prayer I have ever prayed. And during it I received a confirmation from the holy ghost that this is okay, and that we need to involve more members to help her.

We called Sister Spaulding and asked if she would come with us that night to see Merissa! That lesson was so powerful. We came to know her concerns and at the end of the day all we were able to do is to bear powerful testimonies of the prophet. The spirit was so strong. We left her with Joseph Smith history to read.

Yesterday we went to see her again and she had read all of Joseph Smith history. She truly wants an answer. We were able to watch part of the restoration video and the Mormon message when Elder Holland bears his testimony about the Book of Mormon. The spirit was strong again and we really tried to help Merissa be able to learn how she can receive an answer if Joseph is a prophet and if all has been restored on the earth today.

My heart aches for her. I hope she receives her answer soon.

On the other hand we met a new family this week. And the girlfriend came to church with her new baby and she loved it. Her name is Sacilia. That was pretty cool.

Over all I have learned some valuable lessons this week about the Savior and the love he has for each of his children.

"Sometimes God calms the sea, Sometimes God calms the sailor, But sometimes God just wants us to swim our way through it."

My testimony of Joseph Smith has grown so much this week. I know he was a prophet called of God. I know that he saw God and the Son. I know that he translated the Book of Mormon through the power of God. I am so blessed to be able to be on the Lords errand.

Vincy and Blessings

So basically my week was real nice!! We flew to st. Vincent on Monday and we were able to check out the zone leaders area.. it was nice we slayed. We contacted into a home with 4 african med students. They were so humble is the zls don't mess it up they will baptize all 4 for sure! Then Tuesday night we went and I worked with Alldredge! it was fun to see him again! and to gaf about life. Then on Wednesday we went and played basketball in this ghetto court. it was fun to ball again especially with Alldredge! Then later that day we drove down to Georgetown to do a trade off with those Elders! We had a great day I was able to work in my old area and see Keit and this family we have been working with for a long long time. And guess what!! We set a baptismal date with them!! I hope the Elders there follow through with him because man was it awesome! that night the brown family cooked me up some fried pig what a treat!! Overall such a fun trip in Vincy and we felt we were able to get accomplished what we were sent to do!

Next Merrisa is getting baptized this saturday!!!!!! She is the mom of the family that we got married. Mark her husband is not ready for baptism yet but his wife came to church this week with her brand new baby and all the kids!! it was truly a miracle!! Speaking of church we had district conference so Elder Neil Anderson spoke to us over broadcast for the whole carib area! it was so dope! He talked about faith, diligence, and patience! And sense it was district conference all three branches in bados joined together. so all my black rock homies were there!! It was so fun to see them all as well.

And lastly, probably the hardest thing ever this week that was a miracle! is that pres changed the whole reporting system we use every day and he wanted me to create a new one. That means for 2 days this week I sat on the computer and figured out how to use excel! and figured out how to plug in all the formulas.. it was a real headache but I am just so happy for heavenly father and giving us the power to gain knowledge through the spirit. And Let me tell ya with out God there would have been no reports done. So it was awesome. one of the greatest accomplishments in my life!!

So much fun this week! so many miracles!! I delight in serving and teaching people it brings the most joy!!

Tings Nice

So dem tings over here are real nice. We just slaying it every day. We are finding so many prepared people it is blowing my mind. Even with all the reports and ting we got to do we still leading the mission in almost every aspect. It is so awesome! dis week we been redoing the reporting system so I have been sitting on my computer trying to figure out how to do formulas on excel sheets so we can redo all the spreadsheets for the new year. It is a real headache.
But on a more positive note me and kuru are just slaying it. We are finding some amazing people and there is much success every day. We also go work out every morning which is so sick. Elder Kuru is definitely one of my favorite comps I have had my whole mission.

I had the coolest experience I have had on my whole mission last wed. When we gave a blessing to simon a new investigator. Words can't describe it, and it is to sacred to share through email. So I will have to wait tell I am home in person to tell you all about it. miracles do happen though. What a blessing it is to have the priesthood authority of god!

Hmm just an update.. So tonight I fly out to st. Vincent for a few days. I won't be back to bados until thursday it is super sweet. We get to go check on dem missionaries on vincy. I get to go to my old area for a day!! and see whagwan wit them! It is so dread!

Also the weather is amazing but a little chilly still. We getting about 70 degree weather with nuff breeze.

Also a next miracle is that shakem a kid we teachin came to church again and we set a date for the feb 4 for a splash it is exciting!

One love, Irie

New Comp

Yo so transfers happened it was nice!! Elder Kuru is a boss! We work so hard but still have lots of fun! We also have been working out every morning which is great! maybe I can loose all the fat. and start to build some muscle!

This week we had some cool things happen! We were able to have 2 cool experiences I will tell you about.

First we were just contacting like usual. And we shouted into a house and a older women came out and said wow, I was just talking to my husband about religion and was asking him if he knew anything about the mormons.. Then you shouted at my door. We told her that we were sent from God to give her a special message. Unfortunately she was busy making dinner so we plan to see her in a few days!

Second after a long day of work, we pulled up to the apartment and a lady from down the road came running up to us. She said we have been waiting for you to get home. My husband really wants to talk to you guys. So she ran back home and got her husband and he came and met us. He told us he has had some challenges in life and hasn't had the best health. And wanted to know if we believed in divine healing. He told us he has faith in Christ and that he has power to heal. So he asked if we could come over tonight and teach him and give him a blessing. I am so so so excited!! What an amazing man. Tonight we are going to go over and share with him the restoration and how the priesthood is restored to the earth. We will focus on gods power and authority. We will then give him a sacred priesthood blessing. I truly believe God has all power to heal this man. But most importantly I know that tonight the spirit will be there as Elder Kuru and I have been preparing for this sacred opportunity to teach this man and give him a blessing.  I think there will be a miracle happening tonight.

Yesterday We had MLC and Elder Kuru and I taught in perfect unity it felt great. He is mature and a great elder so all is well in zion.

A thought that came to mind this week is that we must first wander through the wilderness to get to the promise land! Every day we have trials and affliction but that is there for us. If we are not going through that then we are not growing and becoming what god wants us to become. I have a testimony of this great work which I am engaged in, I absolutely am loving serving these people.
I have been trying to memorize this week Moroni 7-47-48 about charity. It truly is the pure love of Christ and that if we can obtain it we can see these people as Christ sees them.

Well I love you all and hope you had a great week!!
Happy new year!! and make 2017 the best year ever! It is crazy to think this year we will reunite!

Almost Christmas

Well not much has happened this week we just worked our bumbs off!! I am so excited for Christmas! For Christmas we get to watch 2 movies and guess what i got president to approve to watch? Remember the Titans!! woot woot!

So for this week we mostly just contacted and met lots of new people. But one cool story.. So on Tuesday night before bed I was thinking about an recent convert named Damian and what we were going to teach him next. And the holy ghost brought a prompting to my thoughts about an email dad sent to me at the start of my mission. Telling me how much he loved Moroni chapter 7. So I turned to it and read it. And it just seemed right. So the next day we were going to see him but he was busy at work so we moved the appointment to the next day. Then the next day came and we were caught up doing office work so we had to move it to the next day again. So the next we went and taught him. We shared with him some of the verses of the chapter. And he stopped halfway through the chapter and asked us a question. He asked "this may sound weird but do you plan to teach me this or is it something you think of on the spot?"  I paused and then said Damian the lord knows you personally and loves you he knew you needed this chapter. And we had planned three days in advance to teach you this specific lesson. Then we sat quietly for a few minutes as the Spirit testified to his heart what we said was true. And then he said "Wow. this scripture is exactly what I needed today. You two elders have know idea what I am going through but this just was amazing. Thank you so much!"

I can testify that the holy ghost is the third member of the god head. And is our guide as missionaries. And oh how grateful I am for it in my life!!

Also today for Pday I went and visted little Ephraim and Dawn! it was amazing I When we showed up at ephraims house his mom faith yelled so loud it was like she had seen a ghost!! she was so so happy to see me! It made my whole day!

Well I love you all and will see you just now on skype!! have a blessed week.
