Yo

Everything is good over here! not much to say this week just same old stuff! my two rasta brothers say greetings from the most high to the Dixon family!

love you all have a great week!

Raining Buckets = Nuf Crabs

So basically this week was crazy!! I went crab hunting with aunty wooge and travis family. They are so cool!!!

Another crazy thing president Herrington flew to the island! He came to help with the branch. But it was pouring rain. And in the carib when it rains NO body leaves there house! So basically no one came to church but 2 faithful members. Not even the branch president came lol.

I learned an important lesson though that has changed my life forever. It is D&C 18:10 The worth of souls is great in the sight of god!! We were supposed to have branch council before church and I was the only one there from the branch so it would have been really easy to have canceled it. But instead President Herrington said well lets still do it just me and you. So I opened with a prayer. And then president took that whole hour and a half to teach me. It was so touching. He pulled out the red handbook and just taught me so much about what it means to be in the branch presidency and how to be an effective leader in the church. What a blessing it is to have a wonderful mission president who truly cares about the worth of souls, even mine.

Also this week was good with all the crabs we caught they made us some Crab buyoii. It is basically spinach and dumpling and crab soup! yum! :) here are some pics

Slayin' Every Day

Everything is dope. Face healed working hard! Feelin the spirit and just slayin the end of this mish. We have been teaching travis and the fam they are doing good. Travis was going to be baptized this Saturday but he wants to hold off a few weeks to continue to learn. I honestly think he is just getting pressure from friends. So we are going to pray for him and I am sure the lord will help him be ready before I bounce!

Also we hiked the pitons today which was pretty dope! this rasta man was our tour guide! such a fun time!
This week this guy gave me a grilled fish he said to eat the whole thing. So i did brain, eyes, teeth, bones, tongue.. everything lol that was a funny experience.

Everyday is a grind out here. Striving to find the elect can be hard at times but we are working hard! Something I learned this week is to not focus on ourselves and our problems but to focus on others because we only have so much time in a day to help someone out and to be a servant of god! I just wish I had more time in a day to help his children in any way I can!

here is a pic of travis and his family!
and some of the adventures this week!

Trials

So this week was a real struggle not going to lie. Travis wasn't able to come to church because he was sick. We went to a funeral for this guy that got murdered by 3 kids that live down the street from me. The funeral was crazy the people were crying so hard. It is sad they don't understand the plan of salvation. Then on Saturday we had a meeting with the branch president and all the missionaries and he got really mad and left. And told us to call President Herrington and release him. So for a few days I had to take over and be like the branch president until they were able to cool him down. Today I have spent the whole day at the hospital getting ivs and stuff because I had a crazy allergic reaction again. I have realized I am allergic to mangos. And there are mangos everywhere! So Pres. might transfer me somewhere else but I guess we will see.

The Lord is really trying me this week. But I know he is giving this to me to make me stronger. Like I always say if your not going through trials you ain't growin.

I am so glad Kaits is doing okay. She has been in my prayers. And I am so happy that everything went well at youth conference. That is so cool. You are seriously the coolest mom.

love you all
have a blessed week.

Mormon Vibe

So Sunday we had branch council and everyone was yelling at each other. It was the worst thing ever! Satan is trying to destroy the church any way he can. Me and my comp tried to bring back the peace and love the best we knew how to! It was a crazy day. With some crazy testimonies.

Overall though it was a solid week. Here is a funny story that you might like.. So yesterday was a holiday so we weren't able to email. But in our village they had a huge soccer tournament. And me and my comp were there talking to some of the guys and they told us to sign up. So we did. So it was a 4 on 4 tourny that the village put on. And the whole village was there, like 400 people. So when i went to sign up they said whats your team name. I said we are the mormons! They all just starting to laugh hahaah. So we played the first game and we won by one goal. Then we kept winning. We made it to the finals! and played some real good soccer players. By this time the announcer was cheering the "mormons" on and the whole community was going crazy that the white boys made it to the finals. We of course didn't win but we took 2nd! we won $40. But we told him we wouldn't except it. We just wanted to talk to the people. So he gave me the microphone. And with all the 400 people gathered together. I told him who we were and why we are there. I told everyone that we love st. Lucia and that we would love to come by all there homes and teach them more. They were all cheering haha. It was a funny experience!

lol well I am still trying to truck got one transfer left! :)

love ya all

Blessings Coming True

So basically this week we slayed!! we worked so hard! And the lord is blessing us with so many cool people. A few cool young men that would be a good addition to the branch.

Guess what we started seeing this girl named Natisha she is 30. She is so cool she drove an hour to town just to buy some material so she can have a dress to go to church in. The dress is going to be done this week. So she will be able to come to church. :) such a miracle and sacrifice. She has read from the book of mormon every day!

Also last Tuesday we found a family. After praying for the lord to direct us we were walking down a road and a lady called out to talk to us. After a long chat she asked us to come by her home. After we went to her home the next day on tuesday, it just felt like home. It is like I have known this family my whole entire life. This is probably the family my patriarchal blessing talks about.

She has had us back every night sense. The moms name is justina but we call her momma wooge. (wooge is a word in creole meaning red) She feeds us every day and can't get enough of the gospel! she lives with her boyfriend and wants to get married. She has 3 children. Travis 14 years old, Trevon 10 years, and Page 9 :) She couldn't make it to church but Travis came and wants to get baptized! I am sure he will be baptized in the next few weeks, and his family will get baptized as soon as they have the funds to get married!!

here are a few pics. the first is of 2 young men that came to church with us. And we luckily caught a ride so we didn't have to walk the whole hour. :)
And the 3 is travis and trevon. :)

well every day I get super trunky and then I can usually shut those thoughts out with the book of mormon. This week I read all of 2 Nephi. I am going to try to finish the book of mormon again before I come home.

Also Elder Ackley my comp is so awesome we are having a blast. Loving every minute of serving the lord. Everyone check out Jacob 1: 19 such a breezy scripture.

one love irie.

Good Bye Barbados

So this week was crazy!! I talked with president about transfers and I am so excited!! I am getting released as an AP. and I am going to View Fort St. Lucia. It is like the country side of St. Lucia! it is going to be so freaking awesome!! Also I will be the District Leader over there and I am being called to be the 1st counselor in the branch presidency! So that will be a  fun experience. Plus my comp is super cool. He is a new missionary so that will be fun! I am so pumped! Couldn't ask for a better way to end my last 3 months. 87 days left and I am going to kill it!

Well after looking back at these last 6 months of being an assistant and serving here in Barbados I thought of a few things that I will always remember.

Going to Dawns and being able to see her. I will definitely miss her. Also seeing Ephraim and the fam. As I have served here I have taught countless leadership councils, baptized a few kids, reactivated 2 families, and helped a family get married! Also had countless prayers and long nights at the airport, was able to fly to Grenada and Vincy. Played some ball with the national team of Bados, made hundreds of new friends, ate thousands of peanut butter sandwiches, got a new nick name (ras dixon), read a few books, had nuff exchanges, and lots of spiritual experiences.

But looking back at these last six months the thing that I treasure the most is the testimony I have gained of the saviors love for his children. And for the power that comes through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I feel right now that I am so blessed to have been able to serve here again in Barbados. I feel so blessed to be on the Lords errand. And to witness the immense love that he has for all of us!

Love yall
