Splash

Well this week was awesome! We got another baptism! We baptized a guy named Desmond he is real cool guy that is super humble!

So crazy story Sunday we were able to get a few teenagers that were friends to come to church with a real nice member that kinda cares for all the youth. So church was good. But then that night we went by the members house and all the youth were chillin out. So we had a lesson with them, then we were just sitting there talking with them outside. And this gang from upside of town came up and started calling one of the chicks out. She ran over and punched this girl. Then that girl picked her up and body slammed her. They all were full on fist fighting like real thugs. Then we saw a kid pull a knife and stabbed one of the youth that came to church with us. He pulled a knife too and stabbed a kid as well. Me and Alldredge did not know what to do. So we ran out there and broke it up. And pulled the kids back to the house. Then the gang was real angry luckily the police showed up quick. And they took all the youth to the hospital and the station. It was freaking insane. I have never seen anything like it. It was so sad to see these young men and women fighting for no cause but just pure hatred to each other. Satan is a real being but it made me so grateful I grew up with a brain that works better then to go and fight for no reason.

Other than that it was a pretty typical week. My studies this week were bomb! I love studying about Moroni and the wars. Something I want to share with you all is a verse from Alma.
Alma 48:19
"Now behold, Helaman and his bretheren were no less serviceable unto the people then was Moroni: for they did preach the word of God, and did baptize unto repentance all men whosoever would hearken unto their words."

I was reading from the BOM study guide and it focused on being No Less Serviceable. Howard W. Hunter said:

"Even though Helaman was not as noticeable or conspicuous as Moroni, he was as serviceable; that is, he was as helpful or useful as Moroni... Not ALL of us are going to be like Moroni, catching the acclaim of our colleagues all day every day. Most of us will be quiet, relatively unknown folks who come and go and do our work without fanfare. To those of you who may find that lonely or frightening or just unspectacular, I say you are no less serviceable than the most spectacular of your associates. You too, are part of Gods Army!!"

I agree with this so much. And it touched me a lot to know that know matter what we do in the church what calling we have, or how much we feel we are needed. We are all the same. Jesus Christ loves each of us the same. And he suffered for all of us! so it does not matter what we serve as, as long as we are giving our whole heart to becoming better and serving our Savior.

This gospel is the best!!

So here are some more pics. The one with his shirt off is Lamar he is super cool. And we found him a while ago he comes to church every week. He will probably be baptized in two weeks!! woot woot!

Breezin' - 2 Baptisms and a trip to the ER :)

So this week was full of adventures!! To start out Monday we went on a hike to a place called Seven Sisters! I sent you some photos last week but it was so funny I slipped in some mud and fell so bad. Then  Elder Alldredge slipped climbing this hill and rolled down the mountain! Good times.

Seven Sister's Hike
Tuesday we shaved each others heads and then I went to change the light bulb. I squeezed to hard on the case for the light bulb and shattered it in my hand haha. Well there was glass blood and hair all over our apartment. If someone would have walked in they would have thought we had done a sacrifice or something. We went to the hospital at 12 a.m. and the doc said I needed 6 stitches on my thumb I was laughing because I can't go a year with out stitches haha. But they started searching for some stitches in this getto doctors office and they could not find any. So they did plan B and glued it up.

He just can't stay away from the ER ;)
Wednesday we ran errands and did a cool service project cutting bush up in the jungle. Elder Alldrege got bit by a snake as he was trying to take a picture of it! Lol!

Thursday we went to visit Wendy and Kelly-Ann to prepare them for Saturday, and Friday we gave a priesthood blessing to a member named Listra. She was sick and worried about it. So we gave her a blessing. The next day she called and said she was perfectly fine and healed. The priesthood is amazing!!

Saturday was the best day! We had the two baptisms. And they were just amazing! The Spirit was so strong and we were able to have such a good time baptizing in the pristine blue water!!

Sunday was fun doing the confirmations. We were also able to get an investigator to church named Khalled. Also we were able to get 5 less actives to church!! It was such a miracle.

Sunday night we went over to a medical students house for dinner. Wow it was amazing food. They made us mash potatoes and gravy, stuffing, and chicken! But I must admit it is so awkward talking to white educated people. I actually am not a fan of it at all. I really do not even want to come home. I just feel to comfortable here and I love the people that are here because they are so much more down to earth and real!

Oh another cool thing we did this week was we went to the prime ministers office. And set an appointment to go meet with him we had to go through 3 cop check points haha. I can imagine back in the day when the great prophets of old went and taught the mighty chief priests of the land. I can't wait to sit down and share the gospel with this mighty man!

Today was fun we played ping pong at the church and we also made some dumpling and iguana soup! it was really good!!

Well the church is true and miracles are happening right before our eyes! I am so grateful for Jesus Christ! I am so grateful for the Atonement and I am so grateful for the Priesthood this week!
Love you all

Breezin

This week was the best week of my whole entire mission! Woot Woot! My new companion Elder Alldredge came. He is like a long lost homie I never had. He is so sweet. He played basketball for Mt. View and they hit the game winner to beat Lonepeak in the state tourney a few years ago. Anyway he lives by Farmington.

So this week was full of stressful things but it made it fun. The Sisters got in a wreck and hit the church wall and gate lol. I spent all day doing car reports and filling out accident papers for the church. I learned a lot about cars and accidents! Woot!

Wednesday I drove the Island all day going to and from the airport picking up all the new Elders and things. Lots of driving. Woot

Thursday was sweet too we had a lot of fun with the members eating at their houses and having some great spiritual thoughts.  Everything is boss.

Saturday we went to go and make sure the mom and family were ready for baptism. But Wendy (the mom) was no where to be found. Kelly-ann said she went to by the country side so.... So we were like crap. Well Kelly-ann still came and got baptized so that was sweet. So we got a splash. We went by their house that night and they were there. Wendy felt bad because she is SUPER shy. She said she is scared of drowning in the water. So we explained a little further about baptism and how we actually baptize in the sea. After seeing her daughters photos of the baptism she was like okay next week for sure.

So this Saturday we will baptize her. Oh and also Danielle! She is super cool and she is a mom that lives in a next part of my sector. She is so excited for Saturday. So on Saturday we will baptize two people! Woot Woot. Stay wet!!

Well things are just super great. We are seeing lots of success. And the zone is catching on to this whole stay wet vibe. The zone has set  a lot of baptismal dates this week so that is good.

This week we  also went and visited some less actives. We met one named Sister Cummings she is so funny. She is this older black lady who doesn't give a hoot about what she says and is super straight forward. I have never laughed so hard in  my life!! She insisted on making us some cream of wheat so we had some nice cream of wheat.

I am learning more about speaking in Grenadian terms like.
"Whyu frettin me so"- you are annoying me
"whapn dottish"- I think you are dumb
"whascene" - what is the scene.. or like where are you at.

Well I love Grenada and this mission. Buyahh the church is true the book is blue.

stay breezing and Irie.

Miracles

This week was a week of miracles. First off transfer calls came and I am staying here.  My new comp is Elder Alldredge. I served around him in Vincent. He is like my second brother. He loves Utah and he played Ball in high school. It will be a fun transfer!!!

Second Miracle, Kelly-ann, Wendy, and Princess will be baptized on Saturday!!!! I am so excited! They loved conference as well.

Third Miracle - we had a zone meeting this week and I taught on goal setting and miracles. I was prompted that we should all kneel in prayer before we set the goals so during the middle of my teaching I said before we set these zone goals lets kneel in prayer because these are not our goals but Gods goals!! The Spirit was so strong as our zone humbly knelt in prayer to call upon God for miracles to happen and solid goals to be set. We set some wicked awesome goals. And we have already seen many miracles.

For example...

Fourth Miracle of the week... . I had a really cool experience I want to tell you about. This week we contacted a man at a members home named Lamar. He lives in the sisters area but since he was there he joined are lesson with Brother James a recent convert. We were teaching him about the temple. At the end of the lesson he asked if he could get our number. Saturday night he called and said he had read the tract, (restorand knew it was true. He told us he wanted to meet up soon and so we could talk about Baptism. Elder King and I were so happy. Sunday morning was amazing we called to go see him and to bring the sisters along so we could introduce him to the sisters. When we talked on the phone there was some miss communication and when we were driving to go to his house we saw him walking down the road very far from his home. We stopped and asked where he was going and he said you mentioned something about Conference and I was walking to find the church. We were amazed. We pulled off the road and parked at a park near the road. We walked over and in the shade of a tree we had a very spiritual and powerful lesson. He said he has been searching for truth. We talked only about the Book of Mormon and his family. He loves his little girl and wants to be a good dad and a great provider for her. He does not live with his girlfriend but he wants to get married and buy a house for them. I have never seen such a broken heart and contrite spirit in my life. He even started reading right there in front of us. He was overcome with joy. We asked him if he would follow the example of Jesus Christ and be Baptized. He started to cry he was overcome by the Spirit. He then with a huge grin on his face said I would love that. We set a date for Oct 29. We officially now have handed them over to the sisters. But it was truly a miracle. That day he did come to Conference, and he received and overwhelming feeling of joy. He loved every minute of it.

The Lord is ever so present here in The Great Grenada Zone. He is blessing us for our desire to be exactly obedient and faithful servants of God. I feel like the great scripture in Alma 26:11-12
when Ammon the great missionary was speaking he said I do not boast in my own strength, nor my own wisdom, but behold my joy is full yea my heart is brim with joy, and I will rejoice in my God. Yea I know that I am nothing as to my strength I am weak. Therefore I will not boast of myself but I will boast of my God, For in his strength I can do all things, Yeah and behold many MIGHTY miracles we have wrought in Grenada for which we will praise his name forever.

I absolutely loved Conference. I loved the talk about the truck and how we all need to gear down and work together. Also I loved the simple but yet powerful words of our beloved Prophet Thomas Monson. I love the power of the Atonement that no matter where we are and what we have done. We can change. I loved the that President Uchtdorf taught us how he drinks a Diet soda as well. If he does we all should it makes life happy. haha Dad you're now justified in the Diet Mt. Dew. But most importantly I want you all to know that I know Jesus Christ lives and loves us all so much.

Love, Elder Dixon
