The Greatest Wedding Planner :)

Well fam and friends this week was just amazing! The lord just dumped many blessings on us! So there was two big things that happened this week!

First we decided to flood Bridgetown with the Book of Mormon! Just imagine 20 or so relentless and bold missionaries walking through the heart of town in Barbados loaded with countless numbers of Book of Mormons and tracts! We were stopping people left and right! Walking into stores, contacting just about everyone in sight. I don't think I have ever been so bold in my whole mission! Elder Spencer and I talked to countless numbers of people! I felt like Ammon or Aaron as they would teach cities.

I had no sense of embarrassment or was shy in any way. I treasured up in my mind the words in D&C 6:34 - "Therefore, fear not, little flock; do good; let earth and hell combine against you, for if ye are built upon my rock, they cannot prevail".... Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not."

and also in section 33: 2-3 "For verily, verily, I say unto you that ye are called to lift up your voices as with the sound of a trump, to declare my gospel unto a crooked and perverse generation. For behold the field is white already to harvest; and it is the eleventh hour, and the last time that I shall call laborers into my vineyard!!"

Right now I am at a point in my mission where I don't care what people think, I know the gospel I know it well. I feel of the spirit and I am doing all that I can to serve God with all my heart. I love praying at night and communicating with God about the day. I love talking to him and accounting for all that I have done. But most importantly I am so grateful for the savior..When ever I feel inadequate or feel like I shouldn't talk to someone I lift up a picture I carry with me of the savior and remember who's errand I am on. I find strength through the atonement of the savior of Jesus Christ.

2!! Freakin Mark and Merissa got married on Saturday and let me tell you that was the craziest experience. So basically Wednesday night we go and see them and they told us they got all the paperwork for the wedding! and that they want to have the wedding on Saturday! We were like what? No problem lets see what we can do! So the next two days Elder Spencer and I tried to figure out how to plan a wedding! haha that was so funny! we were calling all the elderly women we knew asking them what goes on at a wedding and what we needed..

Luckily there was two selfless relief society women who helped us put it all together! And boom we had a wedding on Saturday! it was amazing!! Mark and Merissa were crying and were so happy! Now we can baptize them too. But they have to have the baby first so.. after she has her baby we will have some nice splashes!

This week was pretty cool! I am love how God blesses us even in times of trial.

MLC and Ting

This week was absolutely crazy! I can't believe all that happened in one week!

So really briefly I want to share with you some of the experiences I had this week. On Tuesday a new sister came from the MTC so we spent all day doing her orientation. During lunch at the mission home the power cut off because of the rain! It rained so hard and didn't stop! I have never seen so much rain in my whole life! Like CHEESE ON BREAD people! I think God may have been crying! Everywhere in Barbados was flooded. All the roads were covered in water. It rained so hard all the main pipe drains busted and water was shooting up in the middle of all the main roads! Tuesday was also the day everyone was flying in for Mission Leadership Council. So all the zone leaders were scheduled to fly in to spend a few days with us so we could teach them the new training that they needed. But because of all the rain the airport was closed all day but then reopened that night.

Yeah so basically Tuesday night we helped finish the orientation in the dark and had a candle lit dinner with President and Sis Herrington haha. I had an amazing spiritual experience after with a blessing Pres. gave me. Then the rest of the night we took trips to the airport to pick up all the Elders coming in. We picked up the last batch at like 2:30 a.m. so it was a long night. After finally getting to our apartment we walked inside and it was full of water!! It had rained so hard our apartment was flooded lol so we walked through the water and then knelt in a inch of water to pray. Then I grabbed the mosquito repellant and sprayed my bed and myself tell I was drenched in mosquito repellant and fell in bed and slept real good! Mission life is great!! The next day was great we taught a great MLC! And for the devotional at night we sang some Christmas carols and talked about Christ. Oh how amazing that was!!

Well the rest of the week was great we were able to shot vac out all the water and dry out the apartment! I got my Christmas package!! Thanks thanks so much!! It was so much stuff! I am so spoiled!!

And the greatest part of the whole week was God blessed us on Sunday!! And Mark and Merissa and the whole family came to church!! And they want to get married either this week or next week because they want to be baptized!!!!!! Merissa is pregnant and due on Christmas so for her to be so pregnant but still able to catch a bus and come to church shows how completely committed they are! Thy got an interview  for marriage on Sunday with the district president and are all set just have to do a little bit of paper work! But man was that amazing to have a family at church!

I am so grateful for the gospel and am so grateful for the Christmas time to celebrate the birth of Christ! I hope to help everyone feel of Christ's love this Christmas!

16 Months!

Well this week was alright!!  A cool thing that happened is the Martinque Elders from the french side came for trade-off! That was fun because I got to spend almost two days learning from them and doing something different. There was some actually really cool experiences with them. One night it was late we had worked our bums off all day!  So we were working so hard and lesson after lesson kept falling through. So finally we prayed we would find some one that needs to hear the gospel.. And sure enough the lord heard and answered our prayers.

We called into this guys house and he jumped off the couch and walked to the door. He was like I have been waiting for you.. (I was in shock) He said I found a Book of Mormon by my work and I have read quite a bit. I really want to know what you believe... He then told us all about the gold plates how the book was written around 600 BC to 400 AD (by the way nobody in these islands usually know what BC and AD stand for.) and then he goes on to tell us all about Nephi. He said he was so interested that he took another Book of Mormon from his friend and takes it to work so he can read at work and at home! It was amazing!  But it was so late that he said we need to come back a different day. Bummer.. But we are excited to see him again..

A few other things that were funny was that men at church are crazy. The talks were like a 20 minute story time that didn't make sense and then in the middle of the story he says thank you and sits down. lol.

Well our investigators Mark and Merissa are doing good though. They have started planning the wedding so that they can get married then baptized!

Well love ya

Also this week we built a shop for a member who sells of the road! it took some thinking but it turned out alright! lol

Business Man Not Missionary

Well this week has been full of new adventures. I said my goodbyes which was super hard!!! Man I love the people of Grenada! But I flew into Barbados on Wednesday and went straight to work driving Elders and Sisters to and from the airport. Then that night we went to the mission home to have dinner with President, and all the missionaries departing the mission. Wow was that a trunky experience. They cooked an amazing meal of ribs and fish but sitting around a nice dinner table talking about what these elders and sisters are going to do when they get home really gets to ya. But it was a good time and perks of being an AP we got a nice dinner. Then after we had a devotional with the same group. The testimonies were good and the spirit was strong but I will never forget after we finished. We all knelt in prayer and President Herrington said the closing prayer. I felt as though I was one of the original apostles hearing Christ pray. I was overcome by the Spirit and was in tears. That was the most amazing prayer I have ever heard.. After that night I realized how close to the spirit President Herrington really is.

Then on Thursday it was a full day of office work getting to know all my new responsibilities. haha I feel like I am thrown into a world of technology..I am compare myself to Elder Uchtdorf's last conference address:

"All this changed in 1994, when I was called as a General Authority. My calling consisted of many wonderful opportunities to minister, but it also included a great deal of Church office work—more than I ever thought possible.
To my shock, the main tool to stay on top of my work was a personal computer. For the first time in my life, I had to delve into this strange, mystifying, incomprehensible world. From the start, the computer and I were not on the friendliest of terms.
Able tech people tried to teach me how to use the computer. They literally stood behind me, reaching over my shoulder, their fingers moving quickly and tapping a percussive symphony against the keyboard.“See?” they would say proudly. “That’s how you do it.”
I did not see. It was a rocky transition. My learning curve was more like a brick wall.It took a great deal of time, repetition, patience; no small amount of hope and faith; lots of reassurance from my wife; and many liters of a diet soda that shall remain nameless."

But all in all I am starting to pick up how to use all of this technology. Thursday night we were able to go out and teach a few people. The spirit was strong and we were able to teach clearly and simply.

We met President early on Friday to go over the game plans for all the meeting that day. We taught 4 different skype meetings. The first was with all the Zone Leaders, then District Leaders, then Sister Training leaders, then with all of the new missionaries. The day was packed full of meetings. It was amazing to watch the Spirit work. That morning Pres. told me he wanted me to teach on the experience of Aaron as he taught king Lamoni in Alma 22. I didn't have much time to prepare but I had been preparing spiritually all week so there was no worries. I taught about how after Ammon got transferred to a new land. Aaron came in and had to discern the kings needs and teach him through the spirit of God. I love that story. I love how Aaron asked simple inspired questions, questions of the soul and then used the scriptures to teach.

At the end of each meeting President asked me to share any remarks that the mission may need. I tried to think quickly but all my thoughts came back to being happy and smiling so i just simply bore my testimony at the end of each meeting that I know that missionary work is fun! And that we are doing the greatest work any human being can ever do, So why not smile, why not have a good time doing it. It was kinda funny but I looked at all the missionaries in the room and on skype and had them all smile. even with there bottom teeth! haah Then I was like there we go that is what we need.

I hope all of that made sense, but anyway it was a good time and I hope I was able to help the mission is some way or form. Then on Saturday we finally got to work in our area! We worked our tails off contacting and trying to find the elect. We taught a cool family named Mark and Merrissa. And guess what?! We committed them to getting married so that they can be baptized soon!! woot woot. The church is true.

Sunday was crazy we came home form church and the sink in the kitchen exploded so water was shooting everywhere in our kitchen!! Haha we had to get a plumber over.. I felt bad he had to work on the sabbath. But the rest of the day was good full of meetings with pres and reports.

Also as for my comp Elder Spencer, you could say we are a bit different but as for the work he has a great heart and we teach well together so that is a bonus.

My new area is nothing like my last area when I was in Barbados. Its very different and will be a new challenge at hand. I am excited to work in it. I have a feeling I am going to baptize plenty of these bajons!!

Well I love you all and hope you have a blessed week!

Cake and Callings

Hey yall so this week was absolutely crazy and great but also very sad! So first off we had some of the greatest experiences I have ever had this week! Such a christlike week. First on Sunday we had a boss lesson with that family and taught them the plan of salvation they were so so interested. And they had so many questions! It is so amazing to be able to have the full gospel and know that there is a plan for us. Sharing the plan of salvation was so amazing it made me more happy then putting on my football jersey or suiting up for a rival game! Freak sharing the gospel is even better then buck skinnin! I love it so much!

So also another cool story  is that on Sunday a members daughter Jasmin told me it was her birthday this week.. So we decided to make her a chocolate cake! So we showed up at her house and she was there with Grandma Cummings and her sister. She said her birthday has been the worst and she was close to tears.. She was so happy to see us! She told us that her dad didn't remember her birthday and her mom has been working all day! So Elder Alldredge and I were so happy we had made her a cake! She couldn't have been more grateful and it was just a cake. We had a little party you could say. We played some family games and then we went around the room and all said why we love Jasmin. It was amazing she was holding back the tears of joy! Then on our way out she shook my hand and said "Elder Dixon thank you for giving me the best birthday ever" Man that touched me so much! Nothing is better than to make someones day and to help a family spend quality time together!!

That night it was one of our other members Paula's birthday and we made her a cake too. She was so happy! After singing to her we went around and said why we loved her. I told her that she is an amazing mother and that she is so good to her kids and that  she always puts herself after them. She was balling!!
This week I have realized that to make someones day isn't about a cake or a party but it is telling them how much we love them and how much God loves them!!

Also we got transfer calls which made me super sad because I am leaving beautiful Grenada and a Brother, Elder Alldredge! But I am going back to Barbados! I am going to be an assistant to the president! So it will be full of new experiences! I feel completely in inadequate to be an AP but I will do my best!! So I will leave probably tomorrow to go to Barbados! I will be in a different area then before though.

Well I love you all and am so grateful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ! and for the pure love of Christ!  I love being able to help someone in their lives!

Feeling the Breeze

Man things are just going good as usual! We are just having a blast and bringing as many souls to Christ as we can. This week was another miracle. One night we were out contacting and this mom walked passed us with this heavy bucket on her head. At first I was amazed at how she could carry that huge bucket on her head, but then as I came back to realization. I asked if she needed help carrying it to her house. She led us up a trail I had never been up before. It was beautiful up there with thick jungle and lots of coconut trees.  She was so grateful for the help and she told us to wait there until her husband got up to the house as well. We then ran down jungle and found the husband carrying more buckets so we helped him. This family was so grateful for the help and they realized that we were of God. So we had a lesson with them and man was it the most amazing lesson ever.

So imagine me on a fast Sunday after not eating for so long then just sitting down and inhaling my food. The same was with them and the gospel. They couldn't get enough!! They had so many questions and were so nice!! They even made us some lime juice yum! I am so excited to keep teaching them.

We went by the other night to give them a Book of Mormon! They looked like kids on Christmas day! They read and read! We wanted to close to get home on time, but they insisted we shared more! Man was it awesome!

So that was such a blessing. They even have a car so they can drive themselves to church woot woot.

Well things here are breezy!and all is well. Transfer calls are coming on Saturday and I really hope I stay here if not I will be so upset! I can't wait to show you guys Grenada one day!!

Sorry no pics this week But i love you all take care.

Big Red Bus

This week was pretty sweet! First we flew to Barbados for trade-offs it was kinda crazy. I learned a lot during that trade off though so that is good. I love hearing the Bajon accent again!

In the airport on the way back was so funny. Our flight was delayed again! and so we were just chilling and the tv was on playing all the drama about Trump and Hillary. Elder Alldredge and I were laughing because USA seems to get the worst leaders. Then pops up a big subject about the "Mormon Mafia" every eye in that airport went on us as they spoke about Utah and the Mormons! It was pretty funny!

Next on Thursday we were in a lesson and a bird pooped on me right on my pants! haha but the problem was that the spirit was way strong and I didn't want to mess up the lesson so I found a little sweat rag we use and wiped it off real secretly. After the lesson Elder Alldredge and I were laughing so hard.

Saturday night we had a trunk or treat put on by the med students! it was really fun! Elder Alldredge and I decided to dress up! So we grabbed the money pants and some white shirts and wrote on them Fast Offerings and Tithing! I went as Tithing and Alldredge went as Fast Offerings it was a good time!

Other than that we were able to reactivate a family this week! We also got 10 less actives to church which is actually a pretty awesome story but also very stressful! so this week we organized a bus to go pick up all these less actives and members that live out of range from the church! We got a bus driver to meet us at 8 and then we would go pick up all the peeps! But 8 o'clock rolled around and there was no bus. We called him and nothing! then it was about 8:30 and we had no bus and all these people were out on the road at there houses ready to be picked up! we didn't know what to do. So we said a prayer that all would work out. And started driving down the road and a saw a big red bus filling up on gas. So we went up and asked if he would take a trip for us and he said Yes!! it was crazy because they normally don't won't drive around for us!!   We were a little late for church but we were able to get a full bus of 18 people to church!! 4 of them have not been to church in five years so that was amazing! The lord will always provide!

Well hope all is well back home! Love you all

Splash

Well this week was awesome! We got another baptism! We baptized a guy named Desmond he is real cool guy that is super humble!

So crazy story Sunday we were able to get a few teenagers that were friends to come to church with a real nice member that kinda cares for all the youth. So church was good. But then that night we went by the members house and all the youth were chillin out. So we had a lesson with them, then we were just sitting there talking with them outside. And this gang from upside of town came up and started calling one of the chicks out. She ran over and punched this girl. Then that girl picked her up and body slammed her. They all were full on fist fighting like real thugs. Then we saw a kid pull a knife and stabbed one of the youth that came to church with us. He pulled a knife too and stabbed a kid as well. Me and Alldredge did not know what to do. So we ran out there and broke it up. And pulled the kids back to the house. Then the gang was real angry luckily the police showed up quick. And they took all the youth to the hospital and the station. It was freaking insane. I have never seen anything like it. It was so sad to see these young men and women fighting for no cause but just pure hatred to each other. Satan is a real being but it made me so grateful I grew up with a brain that works better then to go and fight for no reason.

Other than that it was a pretty typical week. My studies this week were bomb! I love studying about Moroni and the wars. Something I want to share with you all is a verse from Alma.
Alma 48:19
"Now behold, Helaman and his bretheren were no less serviceable unto the people then was Moroni: for they did preach the word of God, and did baptize unto repentance all men whosoever would hearken unto their words."

I was reading from the BOM study guide and it focused on being No Less Serviceable. Howard W. Hunter said:

"Even though Helaman was not as noticeable or conspicuous as Moroni, he was as serviceable; that is, he was as helpful or useful as Moroni... Not ALL of us are going to be like Moroni, catching the acclaim of our colleagues all day every day. Most of us will be quiet, relatively unknown folks who come and go and do our work without fanfare. To those of you who may find that lonely or frightening or just unspectacular, I say you are no less serviceable than the most spectacular of your associates. You too, are part of Gods Army!!"

I agree with this so much. And it touched me a lot to know that know matter what we do in the church what calling we have, or how much we feel we are needed. We are all the same. Jesus Christ loves each of us the same. And he suffered for all of us! so it does not matter what we serve as, as long as we are giving our whole heart to becoming better and serving our Savior.

This gospel is the best!!

So here are some more pics. The one with his shirt off is Lamar he is super cool. And we found him a while ago he comes to church every week. He will probably be baptized in two weeks!! woot woot!
